The Sunset Dunes safari is Pushkar's classic evening: a camel ride from the edge of town into the desert, arriving on the high dunes in time for sunset, with chai, camel-cart options for non-riders, and pickup timed so you're back for the evening aarti or dinner.

What happens on this safari?
We meet on the desert side of town, where the camels are saddled and waiting. Your guide introduces you to your camel and its handler, and helps you up. The first stretch winds out past the last lanes of town (TODO-VERIFY: route landmarks worth naming), and then the town falls away and it's just dunes.
On the high dunes we stop. Chai comes off the fire, the sun drops toward the horizon, and the sand turns from gold to pink. Photographers get the long-shadow shots they came for; everyone else just sits. We ride back in the dusk, and you're free for the evening aarti at the lake.

Is a camel safari in Pushkar worth it?
Yes — if it's done at the right hour with people who treat their camels well. Midday safaris in summer are hot and washed-out; sunset is when the desert works its magic. We run our own TODO-VERIFY camels / partner with local camel families (TODO-VERIFY: ownership details), and we keep groups small so it stays quiet.
What to wear and bring
- Comfortable trousers — you're astride a saddle for the ride.
- A scarf or cap: useful against sun and occasional dust.
- A light layer for after sunset; desert evenings cool fast.
- Camera or phone with space — the light is the whole point.
